JISHOU, HUNAN — Things are not looking good for those folks who think President Obama is not a natural-born citizen of the US of A — the birthers.
One such is Army Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin, who refused orders to deploy to Afghanistan until Obama released his “long-form” birth certificate. Instead of reporting to Fort Campbell, Kentucky, to ship out, the decorated flight surgeon reported to his former post at the Walter Reed Army Hospital.
Not such a good idea. The Army takes a dim view of refusing orders. From the Army Times,
Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin is charged with one specification under Article 87, missing movement, and four specifications under Article 92, three specifications of failure to obey a lawful order and one dereliction of duty.
Lakin had posted a video on YouTube declaring that any “reasonable” person would question Obama’s status as a natural-born citizen. And to make his legal defense even more difficult, he wrote a lengthy explanation of his reasons for a site called the American Thinker.
One wonders how carefully they think there.
Predictably, there is a website, safeguardourconstitution.com, quixotically dedicated to raise funds for Lakin’s defense fund. It alleges that teh Evil Obama has unleashed the Army’s lawyers against Lakin to suppress the truth about Obama’s birthplace, rather than the more mundane possibility that disobeying direct orders is a quick path to a court-martial.
Meanwhile, California dentist/lawyer/political candidate Orly Taitz, who has lost every single case she has filed in the federal courts to question Obama’s birthplace, now intends to bring Obama up on charges in the International Criminal Court. Apparently, Obama, but not any other president, is guilty of war crimes against Afghanistan, in Taitz’ mind.
Her latest defeat came just last Friday, when a federal judge in Washington, D.C., dismissed the complaint she had filed, saying he didn’t care to go tilting at windmills with her.
Another federal judge fined Taitz $20,000 last fall for abusing the federal court system last fall, and pretty much ripped her and her legal tactics to shreds in his ruling. She appealed last month, even though the judge’s ruling was not appeal-able (if that’s a word). She lost. I don’t know if she has coughed up the money yet, though.
In February, she appealed to the United Nations for its protection as a “persecuted person,” because the only credible explanation for her losing so many cases is Obama’s army of operatives who are out to discredit Taitz.
Meanwhile, the persecuted Taitz is running for secretary of state of California, while the California bar is investigating her disbarment. Talk about a loose cannon on deck. Anyway, when she loses, she will probably blame it on teh Evil Obama’s and his cadre of lackeys and minions. You just wait.
